The first important area concerns link anchor text, and you will always want to use this to your favor as much as possible. The anchor text is just the clickable text you see with any link. With backlinks, try to use appropriate anchor text such as your site’s primary keyword phrase. So, as an example, if your site is about “cool blue widgetrons,” then your anchor text for the page optimized for that term is: cool blue widgetrons. Always avoid anchor text such as, Click Here, because when the mindless search engine bot sees that, it will think you’re optimized for, “Click Here.” Your site will suffer penalities from the search engines because there will be a discrepancy between your anchor text and your site topic. Here’s the rule: always use relevant anchor text for any links to your site.

High quality content, make sure you have it to the best of your ability, and people will reward you with visiting. Your goal is to obtain the most quality site content you can because it is what people want as well as the search engines.

Naturally, it follows that if you put as much good content on your site as possible, you’ll be in better standing with the search engines and your readers. Also, if you try to copy the works of other people, then they’ll discover it eventually, and you’ll only be asking for legal problems. Probably millions of marketers have made the mistake of putting the cart before the horse, so don’t build your site until you have this research done. Using Flash and heavy graphics that are not really necessary is something to be avoided. Search engine bots cannot read Flash, and if you use it you’ll have a hard time getting your site crawled plus other headaches. It should be apparent that Flash interferes with proper SEO, and that’s what you’re trying to do in the first place.
