A successful website must be the kind that people feel good about visiting, and that conveys a professional image. It’s not as hard as you may think to learn how to build the kind of website that brings regular visitors and buyers. It will be worth your while to browse the sites of some of your competitors. What are some aspects of these sites that appeal to you? Are there features that you find displeasing? Try to imagine that you are a regular visitor to this site; would you be tempted to buy from it? What exactly makes you want to make a purchase? Why not? Thinking about these questions and their answers can give you a lot of insight when designing your own site. When you design your own site, you should consider what traits you find positive and interesting. If you think like one of your customers, you can better decide what kind of website you’d be most likely to buy something from. Use this process of browsing like a customer to figure out if your website will motivate people to buy from you.
Don’t install sound on your website that plays automatically when someone enters. Webmasters use automatically playing sounds or videos because they definitely capture the attention of visitors, but not necessarily in a good way. Some people will immediately leave your site if they are forced to listen to a soundtrack, especially if it’s loud or a hyped up sales pitch. People like to choose what sounds they hear and what videos they watch. Consider that you could be losing thousands of dollars in sold products if your sound or video is automated and causing people to click away from your site.
Keep aware and always make sure you’re maintaining a reasonable percentage of both informational copy and sales copy. Keep the sales copy to a minimum because if you don’t, you’ll start driving your visitors away. If your readers feel like you are being too pushy they are more likely to move on to someone else’s site. You should test it out, but you can try using about 25% for sales copy and 75% for information content. It’s difficult, if not impossible, for your reader to trust you if there’s too much selling copy. Naturally, you want the visitor to feel trust, keep reading your site, and then make a buy. Your site serves to pre-sell your reader, so you don’t want to alienate them with too much sales copy. There are many ways to achieve success with an internet marketing business. There is nothing more important, though, than having a website that is attractive, interesting and easy to navigate. Fortunately, it isn’t that hard to create a good, popular website.
At first you may have to put some time into it, but it’s well worth it if you want to get lots of visitors who want to stay for a while. Once you start to make money from your website, you’ll realize how worthwhile it was to put some work into it.
