Customer Service: The Advantages Of Using Kiosks
Nowadays, you are hard pressed to go through your daily life without running into some sort of interactive kiosk. Whether they are being used in pharmacies as self service health check systems, in airports for automated check-in services, in retail shops for checking stock or ordering products, interactive kiosks are everywhere! But why is that? What makes computerized interactive kiosks so popular?
The most obvious benefit is that kiosks reduce labor costs. Take, for example, self service checkouts. Using kiosks means that a single employee can operate multiple machines and, effectively, do the work of several people at once. Some people think that customers find computerized kiosks to be impersonal; however, this is only a small percentage. The vast majority of people are concerned only with speed. They do not care who or what processes their transaction so long as they do not have to wait around and the transaction is processed correctly.
Not only can kiosks cut down on labor costs but they can also provide more information than any employee would ever be able to remember. They can, for example, hold multiple directories in one place, such as phone numbers, catalogs and timetables. This data can be accessed by users in seconds. The information stored can be updated regularly and easily. As it can be done remotely, multiple kiosks can be managed and kept up to date by one person in one location, even if they are located on the other side of the country.
Kiosks are also great for collecting new information. Surveys can be set up on kiosks to allow you to gather market research about your customers or just passers-by. Just think how knowing this information could help your business. People are much more likely to do surveys on a kiosk, especially if they do not have to give confidential details, than with people who ask them in the street or phone them up. Advertise on the kiosk that all contributors get entered into a prize draw and people will be queuing up to use the kiosk.
Another great benefit of kiosks is that they are fully customizable. Kiosks can be built to any design so that you can make a kiosk to be ‘your’ kiosk that perfectly fits with the environment where you want to place it. This means that the kiosk will add to the aesthetics of the environment – not detract from it. Also, it is not only the exterior of the kiosk that can be customized, but the interior too. So, you can tailor and brand the user interface as you want it to be.
