New SEO Reports in Analytics
Google Analytic’s has just been updated and has a couple of new reports. One of the biggest new features is the new search engine optimization reports. They are available to everyone now that they are no longer beta. So the real question is this actually going to help with ranking and seo. You can find the reports in the new interface. There easy to locate under the traffic sources section. You will need to sign up for a Google Webmasters Account first.
1. Query Reports This report will allow you to see the top 1000 search queries. You will also find the number of clicks, impressions, the click through rate, and the average position. If you are familiar with the webmaster tools, you’ll feel comfortable around the layout. The new layout is allot cleaner and simplier. Find the Best SEO on the Gold Coast at Business Web Designs.
The average position does look a bit odd. Most confuse average position to Google ranking but they are not the same. Google reports don’t display the Page Rank. What it does show is each impressions possition. The average position is the average for a particular search.
To find search engine optimization in the queries report use the advanced filter to seek out keyword queries that will send you significant traffic, and you rank for but not in #1, #2, or #3 position.
You shouldn’t be optimizing for all your keywords. Select your main keywords and then concentrate on the conversion rate of those keywords.
2. Landing Pages Report This report shows how often your top landing pages show in the search result and they also show the average position and CTR. The advanced filters to find your landing pages that have high CTR and Impression but low conversion. Then you should look at the URLs for the title tags and the Meta descriptions. This will help you know if you are able to better your page in the search engines. Generally, there are reasons for a low CTR that is outside your control. This is especially true if the search engines aren’t showing search results that aren’t matching the user’s intent.
3. Geographical Summary In this report you will be able to see the CTR and Impressions per country. This report is great when moving into a new location around the world and see how you can improve by country and for internation SEO. For example, If you have a local Australian business that wants to grow over seas to india then you will be able to see and compare your impressions and CTR and work out why your country stats are different.
So will these new reports actually help you? And your SEO efforts? These Google reports are still a bit on the rough side. How much does Google share? Not as much as Blekko gives SEO pros. Of course for free your not really allowed to complain about these new reports. I’m sure as with anything Google undertakes it’s going to improve and when it won’t be long before these are some of the most valued reports out there.
