Mike Doherty – Mike has an extensive background in corporate investments; including the origination and underwriting of over $100 million in venture staged debt products for emerging growth companies. He also has an intimate knowledge of running a small business. Over the years, he has launched several ventures to great success and dismal failure. Each was a learning experience.
Mike has sat on the Boards and been President of both the Golden Gate Business Association and SF Small Business Network advocating for public policy that supports business. He also an alumni of the 2006 Leadership San Francisco class. He currently volunteers at Renaissance Entrepreneurial Center teaching business planning/finance and mentoring up and coming entrepreneurs.
He is the founder of Doherty & Associates, Ltd, a premier business advisory firm specializing in business development and venture strategy. D&A offers insight, experience, and a hands-on approach to cultivate early stage concepts, products and services into commercially successful business opportunities.
Prior to Doherty & Associates, he was a director at Third Coast Capital, a venture lending organization that committed more than $125 million in venture debt investments. Mike was one of the first employees when Third Coast was established in 1996 with an initial investment by Cargill, Inc., the largest privately-held company in the United States .
Prior to Third Coast Capital, he was a principal of Southport Systems, Inc., a consulting firm advising clients on asset management, leasing operations and credit underwriting. In addition, he has served as portfolio manager for numerous leasing portfolios.
Mike earned a BS in Commerce from DePaul University in Chicago . Mike lives with his partner, Jorge and their dogs, Puck and Miguel. Their cat, Scudder, guards the fort while Puck and Miguel are out sniffing stuff.
Liza Sibley – Mistress of Procurement Liza brings a unique blend of professional and life experience to PlusStuff.com. She spent 20 years being a homemaker, raising two children and helping her daughter raise three Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies.
In addition, she was active as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and was a National Examiner for the United States Pony Clubs, Inc. Most recently, Liza had been working in both the medium and maximum security county jails as a literary outreach and high school teacher.
Born in Rochester , New York , Liza attended Skidmore College and the University of South Carolina where she received a B.S. in Chemistry. She moved to California (where she always knew she should be) in 1975 to attend graduate school at UC Berkeley. She graduated with a Master’s of Science studying organo-actinide chemistry.
Liza still lives in San Francisco with her partner, Jody and their two dogs. She enjoys riding her retired racehorse, Utah Beach.
